Technical Data: WTH-SG/RJ45 Series surge protective devices are applied to surge protection for data communication systems. WTH-SG/RJ45-KG is connected in series in CAT6 network cables, compatible with 10/100/1000/10000 (10G) Base-T Ethernet systems, protecting the equipment connected to the network (e.g., computers, routers, PoE devices, etc.) against damages by over-voltage surge.

Surge Protection Modes: - WTH-SG/RJ45-KE and WTH-SG/RJ45-KG have waterproof enclosure design with waterproof terminal threading, suitable for indoor or outdoor applications. The UL certified f1 anti-acid rain and anti-ultraviolet enclosure material ensures aging resistance of the shell for outdoor use. - The GDT+TVS type surge protection provides a two-step surge protection mode: the first-stage GDT protection releases strong surge intrusion and reduces the surge strength, followed by the second-stage TVS fine protection, achieving a lower residual voltage value. - The PE/GND of WTH-SG/RJ45-KE (KG) has two terminals, and an additional 90V GDT connected in series between the two terminals can increase the surge discharge voltage value, effectively blocking the interference of unstable ground voltage.

Application for Ethernet: - If the wires on the line side and the equipment side are connected reversely, the TVS becomes the pre-stage protection, and the GDT is the post-stage protection. This may cause damage to the TVS if it encounters a surge intrusion, and the residual voltage value will increase, posing a risk to the protected equipment. - To determine the quantity of surge protectors needed, consider that surge on the STP cable will be transmitted in two directions to the ends of the cable. One surge protector is needed to protect the equipment on each end of the cable.

Application for PoE: - The full line surge protection mode of GDT+TVS avoids the confusion of selection when the system is 100M or 1000M, or the PoE structure or wiring mode is unknown. - The GDT connected in series between the 5-8 lines provides additional differential mode (line-line) surge protection, on top of the common mode (line-ground) surge protection, for the 4-5 and 7-8 PoE lines.
